DENTON Community College’s summer fair is more than simply a school event as it is put on for the whole community.
And it again proved a popular event in the area with more than 1,250 people attending.
It is planned and run by the school’s student community ambassadors with 40 helping on the day which was this year sponsored by the Jigsaw housing group.
Forty organisations and businesses signposted their provisions for all ages of the community from early years to the elderly.
The day raised more than £500 for the college’s chosen charity which this year is Brain Tumour Research. In the last eight months they have raised £4,250 which will fund one and a half days of research.
In order to make the day as inexpensive as possible for visitors, organisers try to offer free activities for all the family when possible. They included a birds of prey display, creatures brought along by Into the Wild, climbing wall and routines by Haughton Green’s The Dance Gallery.
The college is looking for a sponsor for next year’s event and anybody interested should contact Hayley Duffy, the college’s head of community, by email firstname.lastname@example.org
